This year’s International Women’s Day theme, “Accelerate Action,” couldn’t have been more fitting. As we gathered for our vision boarding event, the energy in the room was nothing short of inspiring. The conversations were deep, the reflections were real, and the excitement about what’s ahead was contagious. It wasn’t just about setting goals—it was about stepping into the best versions of ourselves, both personally and professionally.
Guiding us through this transformative session was Debra Ouma from Positive Circles, a passionate advocate for women’s empowerment. Her expertise and infectious energy helped us challenge limiting beliefs, gain clarity, and take tangible steps toward our goals. Her insights made the session not only engaging but truly impactful.
Here’s what stood out from our session:
1. Change begins with us
One thing was clear: waiting for change isn’t an option—we have to make it happen. Whether in our careers, personal lives, or communities, each of us holds the power to drive meaningful action. It was incredible hearing everyone’s perspectives on the small (but mighty) ways we can create impact.
“This session reminded me that if I want to see growth, I have to be the one to take that first step. No more waiting around!” – Dorcas, Marketing
2. Work-life balance is a real thing (and we need to get better at it!)
The Wheel of Life exercise was a reality check! Seeing our lives broken down into different areas—career, health, relationships, finances—made it clear where we’re thriving and where we need to step up. The biggest takeaway? Balance doesn’t just happen; we have to make time for the things that matter.
“I realized I’ve been so focused on work that I’ve completely ignored my personal goals. That has to change!” – Sherry, Accounts
3. Goals need to be more than just wishful thinking
Through the Year Compass exercise, we mapped out where we are vs. where we want to be. Writing things down gave our dreams structure—because a goal without a plan is just a wish, right? It was amazing to see everyone getting clear about their next steps.
“For the first time, my goals feel real. Now, I actually have a roadmap to get there.” – Jacinta, Sales
4. The power of believing in ourselves
We talked a lot about how self-belief plays a huge role in success. If we don’t think we can achieve something, we probably won’t even try. Changing that mindset is the first step to unlocking bigger opportunities.
“I’ve had big dreams for years, but this session made me realize the only thing standing in my way is ME.” – Emily, Procurement
5. Visualization is a game-changer
Vision boarding wasn’t just fun—it was powerful. Seeing our goals visually laid out makes them feel real and keeps us motivated. The best part? Everyone left with a board full of dreams ready to be turned into reality.
“Now that I have my vision board, I feel more accountable to myself. It’s a daily reminder of where I’m headed.” – Betha, HR
What’s next? Making it happen!
The energy from this session was electric, but now comes the real test—taking action! The plans are in place, the goals are set, and we’re all ready to step into the next phase of our journeys. This event wasn’t just about celebrating women; it was about empowering ourselves to take charge of our futures.
To everyone who attended—your stories, insights, and shared experiences made this event what it was. Let’s keep pushing forward, supporting each other, and most importantly, accelerating action!
